PSU Sailing: Open House 9/29

PSU will be hosting an Open House at the Willamette Sailing Club at 6336 SW Beaver Ave on Saturday 9/29 at 11AM.

Anyone interested in sailing or joining the Sailing Club is encouraged to attend.  We will be taking people for rides on the boats and giving basic sailing lessons.  Beginners are more than welcome.

The forecast is for rain (what a surprise) and a moderate southerly wind.  Plan on bringing a change of clothes, a waterproof outer layer, and do your best to avoid wearing cotton as it wicks heat away from your body when it gets wet.
Poly-pro or capilene thermals are great, as are wool, silk clothing for keeping your warm if you get wet.

We have a limited number of wetsuits that can be borrowed for the day and team members are encouraged to bring extra gear.

All team members who are not attending this weekend's regatta in Seattle should be there.

PSU Sailing: Party in the Park 9/27

PSU will be putting an FJ on the park blocks this Thursday, September 27th for recruiting at party in the park and promoting our Open House.

Any team members who can be available to help rig the boat, pass out flyers, talk to people and just hang out should plan on coming.

We will be setting up the boat around 10AM and will need at least 3 people to help.

I will be with the boat all day except from 2-3:50 when I have class so we will definitely need people to cover that shift.

We will break down the boat around 4:30 and will need 3 people to help with that as well.

Let me know if you can help out.

PSU Sailing: Cougar Cup Recap

This past weekend the PSU Sailing Team sent 6 sailors to compete at Cougar Cup in Vantage, WA.

It was the first regatta of the year and the conditions were beautiful.  Saturday we were treated to 25-30 kt breeze that resulted in nearly every boat capsizing and some seriously exciting reaches.  We had 5 races before abandoning for the day due to the challenging conditions.

Sunday the breeze was a bit lighter and we finished 10 races.

Official results have not yet been sent to the list but PSU finished 4th overall out of 8 teams.

Special congrats to Justin and Adam for holding their own in the top half of B division.
