PSU sailing: check out the 2008 sailing calendar

The WSC Laser fleet site has been updated with the all new 2008 racing schedule, including local and national events. Some dates are still a little fuzzy so stay tuned for revisions in upcoming weeks. A couple of points of interest:
  • Australian Laser and Finn ace Brendan Casey is coming to town to lead a performance Laser clinic in the Gorge July 12-13 (dates tentative). If you're looking for an opportunity to raise your game, this is it (stay tuned; space limited!)
  • Royal Vic's Spring Dinghy Regatta (May 3-4) is now an ISAF grade 3 event; serious Laser sailors should put this on your calendar
  • SOCKS is now NOOD (May 16-18); centerboarders still welcome!
  • District 6 Laser Champs will be held as part of Royal Vancouver YC's WAVES Regatta June 27-29
  • Laser Master PCCs returns to the Gorge this year Aug. 16-17. Come a day early and sail in the infamous Gorge Blowout, 18 miles of screaming downwind from Cascade Locks to Hood River!
  • Check out the new Go-Fast Tips (link on the Racing page). Some great new stuff from Michael Blackburn, Robert Scheidt, and UK Olympic coaches to get you tuned for the 2008 season.
Let me know if you see any need for corrections, additions, or deletions. Can't wait to get back on the water!

PSU sailing: Upcoming Events

Hey Team,
Though I was not born in the 50's...1850's; it took dedicated hand
holding by Tom and Daniel for me to understand how to send everyone this
message. Possibly it has not even worked. Assuming I am not just writing
to myself, there are a few notable events coming up.
Tomorrow we will be heading up to Bellingham to participate in the Jeff
Mixdorf memorial regatta which officially kicks off our Spring season. We
will be leaving at 1700 so dont be late. Also please dont pack your whole
closet because the van will be full. That being said, the weather is
forecast to be very cold with rain and possibly snow, so bring cold weather
sailing gear.
Next weekend five of us will be flying to Texas to race in the Harris
Kemper Intersectional hosted by TAMUG. There will probably not be practice
next Friday since there are not any officers available.
We have received an invitation to Admiral Moore Team Race in NYC and Old
South in Florida. We have to pick one and I am inclined to choose Old South
based almost entirely on the location. Unfortunately Old South is held at
the same time as the Orcas Island Team race, 23-24 February. But if we can
get 10 sailors together we can attend both events. Let me know what you
think.
Since I am not sure if the Interweb magic will work for me, I think that
will be all for now. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.
