PSU sailing: Back to school breakdown

Hey Sailors,

Hope you all have been having a great summer and sailing lots.  PSU Sailors have been busy this summer sailing at events like Whidbey Island Race Week,  CGOD,  Delta Ditch,  Algae Bloom,  as well as the summer race series at WSC and up on the Columbia River.  Now it's time to get back into the fun stuff,  college racing.
We have tons of exciting news,  so bare with me through all these announcements.  First,  I'd like to welcome our new coach,  Steve Williams.  He hails from Portland Maine and has an extensive background in coaching sailors.  I'm really stoked to have him join us!

There will be some new leadership this school year.  Graham Dudik will be taking over as commodore for Sky.  Sky and Julia will work together on the Media and Communications Officer position, and I will continue on as Captain.

Practices will be on Tuesdays and Fridays this Fall from 3 pm 7 pm.  If you cannot make it right at 3, then just come down as soon as you can.  If you let me know ahead of time that you will be late, via text or email, then we can rig a boat for you.  The first practice of the year will be September 29th at 3 pm.

We will be having a work day / back to school party at WSC on September 22nd at 6pm.  This will be to get our boat cleaned up and back on the dock.  We can hang out and catch up as well as have a general meeting to go over our plan for the year.

Singlehands qualifiers will be September 26th and 27th in Bellingham WA.  It's sailed in Lasers and is non-rotational or divisional.  This is the weekend before school starts, so i need a head count of who would like to go so that we can charter boats and a vehicle.  Please email me if you're interested: tmiron@gmail.com.  I don't recommend this if you have never sailed a Laser before.

On October 10th we will be having an Open House and a WSC work party.  The work party will be done from 9am- Noon and all that attend will receive a coupon for $20 off there next terms dues.  The open house will be at 1 pm and will be for recruiting new people.

We have some challenges this year in regards to our budget and rental vehicles.  Therefore it makes it much easier for us to plan out the season if you let us know what regattas you can go to.  So please click HERE and take the survey to let us know what regattas you will be attending this fall.

I know this is a ton on information all at once, but please put the following on your calendars and email me with any questions.  You can also find these on the calendar on our website: http://sailing.groups.pdx.edu/Calendar.html

PSU sailing: Practice Thursday, August 6th

Hi everybody,

I'd like to have a practice Thursday, August 6th at 12:30pm. I imagine
we would go until 4:30pm or so if there is wind. This will mostly be an
informal sail, but depending on the wind and who shows up we may try to
practice a thing or two. As always, if you're new or haven't been down
before you are totally welcome to come down.

Let me know if you are planning to attend, or if you have any questions
or need directions.
