Re: PSU Sailing: Volunteer Opportunity for the Club

So I've only heard back from Andrew about this weekend, however there is an even cooler project being done by SOLV they are doing a watershed restoration :

"Project Activities: SOLV and its partners are working to enhance the McKay Creek basin.
Volunteers will be planting native trees and shrubs to restore this watershed.
Over time, this work will improve water quality, create wildlife habitat, and store carbon
to slow climate change. SOLV will provide all tools and gloves for this project.
"

Time: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

Site Address: 2700 NW Glencoe Rd

Directions: From downtown Hillsboro go north on N 1st Ave. N 1st Ave. continues on as NW Glencoe Rd. School will be on your right.

Coordinator: Briana Goodwin

Contact Email: briana@solv.org

Contact Phone Number: 503-844-9571 x332

I am planning on going to this whether we have 5 or not I need to do a volunteer project for a class but if we can get 5 people (bring your friends) we can also get $400.00 for the sailing team. If your interested we would need to register today.  Let me know. If you're on the fence and just show up that morning it looks like they would take a few more volunteers but they would prefer we register ahead of time.  http://www.solv.org/programs/event_details.asp?eventID=19681

Good afternoon sailors,
Recently the RCC (the governing body for all PSU clubs) has offered money to clubs that participate in a community service event. approx $400.00 This money could go towards many things in our budget, even our spring break clinic. We need a minimum of 5 people to participate. I am in contact with the No Ivy league of Portland ( http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/index.cfm?c=47820 )  They have an event this Saturday Feb. 18th from 8:45 till Noon for those of you who were unable to go up to Seattle for the winter clinic this could be an option or we can try and get a group together to go on our next weekend off which isn't until March 10th when the ladies are at Women's clinic in Bellingham, however we would need at least 10 people to create our own work party.
Please get back to me Mitch3ca@gmail.com if this weekend works, if we can get 5 people together than we could knock it out early if not lets work towards getting it together for March 10th (bring friends, etc.?)
Have a great day! -Mitch

PSU Sailing: Back to Basics

Hello Sailors!

This week our practices are going BACK TO BASICS! Meaning it is a perfect time for you NEW SAILORS to come and down and get trained up for the spring season. We've got some really exciting regattas coming up including, Canada, San Francisco, and the famous Hood River Gorge!
We will be spending practice time this week going over rigging, points of sail, and anything you want to make sure everyone is on the same page. If you think you are already a perfect sailor (well there are always things to learn) then you can help teach! It'll be a great experience for everyone!
Hope to see you there
Remember, wear something warm, and shoes you dont mind getting wet
we practice at 3663 SW Beaver Ave, Portland OR 97239. Conveniently located right on the water front bike path and bus line 35 and 43 that regularly leave from campus.

PSU Sailing: Sailing Team Dues!!!

Good Afternoon Team,

It was great to be able to join the team in a regatta once again. With a winter heavy with regattas most of which are long drives it is time again to pay dues.
Thank you for those who have already taken the initiative to. They are due this Friday!!
Also it looks like there will be more moneys available for doing volunteer work, so we'll looking for people to come participate, stay tuned.
Thanks again and have a great week, don't forget that this Friday is skipper/crew appreciation day.
