Regatta Highlights: Saturday, racing started on time at 10:30 with
10-12 kts of breeze from the North. 6 races were completed in A
division and 5 Races were completed in B before the wind died. One
protest was heard and disallowed.

Sunday, due to lack of wind, racing was abandoned at 12PM and the last
A division race from Saturday was thrown out. Thanks to everyone for
coming and giving us some great races.

PSU Sailing: Outlaw Regatta in Portland 10/27-28

For everyone on this list who is not an active member of the team,
here's your chance to show support for PSU Sailing!

We will be hosting a regatta at the Willamette Sailing Club (our
normal venue in Johns Landing) this weekend.

Racing will be held Saturday from 10:30AM to about 4PM and Sunday from
10AM to 3PM.

Here's a chance to see what it is we do at regattas and watch the top
sailors in the district demonstrate what those little boats can do.

T-Shirts will be on sale for $10.

PSU Sailing: North/North Recap

Sorry for the delay getting the results out. This last weekend PSU
took 10 sailors to Seattle to compete in the North/North regatta. For
5 of the sailors, this was their first regatta. Also, congratulations
to Josh Dankovchik for his awesome finishes which will place him on
the Varsity Team for the upcoming regatta this weekend.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: Saturday's racing started at 10:30 with a shifty
8-12 kt. Southerly that eventually died around 3:00 bringing an end
to the days racing. A-Division got in six races, but B-Division could
only complete four races before the wind vanished from Lake
Washington. Courses were windward/leeward once and twice around,
averaging around 17 minutes. 2 protests were heard: one disallowed
and another resulted in a boat retiring.

Sunday's racing started promptly at 10:00 with some light rain and 4-7
kts. from the south. No protests and several general recalls in both
fleets. Managed to do six more races in B and 4 more in A to be done
sailing by 3:00. Thanks to all seven schools for coming to Seattle,
it was great to see so many new faces. Thanks to UW Alumni Brendan
Fahey, Alex Jones and Jon Kelch for running the races. And to Sail
Sand Point for their continued support of Northwest College Sailing.

PSU sailing: Housing for Outlaw

Hey everybody,
As you all probably know, PSU will be hosting the Outlaw Regatta on
October 27 and 28th.

Part of hosting the regatta means that we need to find places for the
visiting sailors to sleep.

I'm starting to get RSVPs from teams and need for PSU sailors to let
me know if any of you can host a team (6-12 people usually).

They don't need to be hosted comfortably, everybody is used to
sleeping on the floor and getting their heads stepped on every once in
a while so if you physically have floor space for at least 4 people,
send me an email with your address. We've got about 60 more people to
house.

Bonus points for being near the sailing club or near my house at 45th
and Burnside where people will be socializing after racing.

The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, the ICSA
Procedural Rules and the Sailing Instructions.

Format
The regatta will be a 2-Division, non-rotational event. Unlimited berths per
school are allowed.

Boats
Bring your own FJ's. We have limited charters available for schools
who cannot bring their own boats.

Location
The racing will be held on the Willamette River at the Willamette
Sailing Club located at 6336 SW Beaver Ave, Portland OR 97239.

PSU Sailing: ICSA Registration

I promise this is the last email of the day.

All full time students who plan on attending regattas with the team
need to register with the ICSA.

This can be done online by going to
http://www.collegesailing.org/directory/individual/ and clicking the
"register now" button.

On the following page select the radio button next to "college sailor"
and then select Portland State in the menu below.

On the next page simply fill in your personal information.

In the 5th section entitled "Eligibility Record" just check the box
next to Fall '07.

If anyone has any problems, email me and I'll try to work them out.

PSU Sailing: Intro to Racing Clinic 10/6 3PM

This is just a quick announcement for anyone who missed it at practice.

We will be having a racing clinic Saturday 10/6 at 3PM being coached
by Kyle Eaton, former Lewis and Clark Sailing Team captain and the
NWICSA graduate secretary.

We will go over basics of the race course, basic tactics, and do some
on the water drills. I encourage all club member to attend, we could
all use a little brushing up on the fundamentals of racing.

PSU Sailing: Proposal to Change Practice Times

It looks like quite a few people's schedules would benefit from
starting practice at 2PM rather than 3PM. This will start on
Wednesday.

This will help out those of us with night classes so we can get more
time on the water and will be inevitable later in the season when the
sun starts going down at 5:30.

Let me know if you can make 2PM. If not, keep coming at 3, I just
want to know who to expect before I head out on the water.

PSU Sailing: Open House Recap

PSU Sailing's Open house on Saturday was a hit. We got 20 new people

For everyone interested in continuing with the club or those who
couldn't make it Saturday, you are encouraged to come down to any of
our practices Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays at 3PM at the Willamette
Sailing Club.

Hope everyone had a good time, and thanks to all the club members who
helped out.
