PSU sailing: Frosh/Soph reminder

Hey PSU Sailors,

Just a reminder to all those who signed up for Frosh/Soph, the regatta is this weekend and practice on friday is mandatory for all those going. Here's the list of people who signed up for the regatta:

Sky
Shannon B.
Graham
Jordan
Tom
Me
Julia
John
Alieta
Florence
Kendall
Melody
Kenji

Blake

Shannon S.

Sam

So if you're on the list, then I'll see you at practice this friday. Remember to bring all your gear for the weekend to practice as we will be leaving from WSC. Since there was not a whole lot of interest for the regatta initally, we only requested one tow vehicle which means we can only bring two boats. Now that we have 16 people going, it would be nice to bring another boat to aviod lots of rotations, but for that to happen someone needs to voulnteer to tow with their personal vehicle. If anyone is willing, we'll split the gas among everyone going, and gas to Bellingham and back split between 16 people wouldn't be that expensive. It's not a requirement that someone offer to tow a third boat since we can make do with two boats at the regatta, but it would be greatly appreciated if someone is willing to voulnteer their trailer-hauling abilities.

Thanks everyone, see you at practice,

-Adam

P.S. Get some good cold weather gear for this weekend, Bellingham is 6 miles from the Canadian border, it's freakin cold up there!

PSU sailing: Practice Today

Hey Sailors,
Just a reminder that sailing practice will be at 3:00 pm today.
please try and be there at 3, but if you can't due to class i
understand. Make it there when you can.

Also, please keep the family of Peter "PJ" Wenner in your hearts and
prayers. Peter, a fellow college sailor at the University of Hawaii,
passed away yesterday morning as result of a sailing related injury
occuring last saturday. He was crewing on a 18-foot skiff when the
boat capsized and turtled. His trapeze and harness became tangled
around the trampoline rack, holding him underwater. He was rushed to
a hospital and kept on life support until his family could get there
to say goodbye. The sailing community is small and the college
sailing community is even smaller. A brother has fallen as result of
the sport we all love so much. Please keep his family in your hearts
and prayers, as I'm sure this is the most difficult thing they will
ever go through.

PSU sailing: Frosh/Soph

Hey PSU Sailing,

Now that it's November, Frosh/Soph is coming up soon. I already have a lot of people signed up for the regatta, but there's still time to get on the list or cancel without any penalties. Here's who I have marked down as going:

Sky
Shannon
Graham
Jordan
Tom
Me
Julia
John
Alieta
Florence
Kendall
Melody
Kenji

If you'd like to add or remove yourself from the list, send me an email by the end of the week. If you're not sure what Frosh/Soph is, it's a regatta in Bellingham, WA that's going to take place november 21-22nd. It's open to ICSA eligable sailors in their first or second year of college sailing, a great chance for beginners to race with other sailors at the same skill level.

Also, remember that Tom has asked everyone have a personal goal to accomplish by the end of the week. Something like improving mark roundings, getting your timing down for roll tacks, or being right on the line at starts. Just think of something that you can improve, and be ready to start working on it this wednesday.

Hope you're all doing well on those midterms, see you at practice.
-Adam
